The sense of humor

In my opinion one of the most beautiful, valuable and helpful gift given to humankind is the sense of humor.
The laugh has so much power, it helps play down the importance of certain situations, helps taking some distance from our issues, and fill our soul with joy.

The laugh is one of the most neglected soul food! Some praises, some meditates, and some makes a therapy, some listen to music, some does art, but most of us while growing up and becoming adults forget to laugh…life seem to be such a serious think.

Think of this: Children don’t do most of these things, but (otherwise they are prevent to do so) they never forget to laugh…..Did you ever take a break and listen to children laughing? It is such a beautiful music.

So all this to say that we should sometimes stop taking life so seriously, nobody asked us to do so, and start using more of this precious gift that we have: Our sense of humor.

The butterfly effect

Each action taken can have consequences out of proportions…..

This might be hard to conceive, and we might not want to think about it…but try to take a few minutes to look more closely at this concept.

Each action we take has a consequence in all of us, even the smaller action:
Isn’t it fabulous and frightening at the same time?

Think about the” butterfly effect” in “the chaos theory” illustrated by the following sentence: The flap of a butterfly’s wings can create a tornado on the other side of the world.

This gives us an idea of the interdependence of everything on this earth, not to say on the universe.

I had no other purpose in mind when I made this post than to try to picture the” I” in the big “I”.

This will not stop me acting every day, but maybe, time to time I will think more about the consequences before I take certain actions.

Let say God is an artist!

I love quotes! I came across this quote from Albert Einstein:
"It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure." -- Albert Einstein

I like to imagine a God, a supreme being, or whatever you would like to call him, having a sudden inspiration, THE inspiration!!! And like an artist, with certain frenzy, with the tools he can grab next to him, very quickly, because he doesn’t want the idea to go…create, create, create…….

The universe is in place, he now works on the details. He likes this space at the top right…yes, he adds some more planets around the star… this star needs to be more luminous, perhaps a little more light!?!
He is not satisfied, something is missing….let add another planet; maybe more blue….Oh, that’s nice!!

Why not add some life in this planet…This is so much fun, let’s create some interesting beings! This is great!! It seems like something is coming up…and finally after quite some time spent on this piece of art, the last detail...Humans!
Isn’t that fabulous!!
Nothing to add, nothing to remove!!

The creation lives by itself.

Finding happiness in small things

It is sometimes useful when you feel frustrated, unhappy for some reason with your life, to focus on the small details that fill your heart with joy and happiness.
Doing this helps you to put relativity in your perception of the world. These small moments of joy finally take their real place; they become what they really are, your source of happiness, and your frustrations become what they really are, temporary challenges!!!

Here are some of the things I like to focus on when I feel unhappy with my life for a reason or another....

-Small talks with my kids on our way to school.

-The warmth of my duvet and the body of my husband in the morning just before the alarm rings.

-Finishing an art work and being happy with it.

-Reading a good book, article or blog post.

-Seeing a good painting or sculpture.

-Making a good dinner and hearing the kids say…”I love you mom you are the best mom in the world.”

- Having the kids’ school calling me and say that my son is in the honor roll.

-Taking a bath with a good glass of wine and a good book….and staying in until the water becomes cold.

- Having my husband calling me sexy after a few years of marriage.

-Eating artichoke and asparagus.

-Listening to good music.

-Ice skating with my son, and trying hard not to fall down.

-Spending a few hours cleaning all the mess in the house, angry with everybody, and when the work is done, being happy to have such a nice home.

-Spending some good time with my friends.

-Seeing good movies.

-Coming back home sweet home when it is -13C outside.

-Watching the ocean.

-Having my coffee in bed on Sunday morning while looking by the window at the squirrel on the tree.

It seems like I could continue this list for some hours…
Everybody has their own list to do!!
Yes, frustrations are only temporary challenges….but if you look closer at life’s little details, you might be able to see how wonderful your life truly is.

Which direction for my life???

“The wisest men follow their own direction”

I love this quote!! This is so true, but sometimes, because we are tired, discouraged, or sometimes, just because we avoid taking decisions, we don’t follow these wise words.
Who could tell you better than yourself the best direction for you to follow?

The people around you (family, friends) with all their love will only tell you what they think is the best for you, but you are the one that knows yourself intimately, that knows your past, present, dreams and expectations in life.

When you act by listening other people’s advices without first asking yourself: “is this my direction? Is this really what I want?” you might prepare yourself for disappointment and bitterness.

By saying this, I don’t mean that it’s not a good think to listen to others people advices, in the contrary; people that can’t listen to advices are the one that will most certainly fail in their initiatives, because listening to advices means taking a time for reflection which is always a good think.

But while listening to advices, never forget that it is about you and your life, so at the end, listen to the advice of your interior voice, it will never fool you.
