This week end, I have decided to stay far from my computer, and it was for the best!
I don't know if this happens to you, but my computer sometimes hypnotizes me, and makes me forget that others form of artistic expressions exist :).
I have to say that I had a great motivation. The magnolia at my house was in flower, and I was waiting for this moment all winter long. So I looked for my paint and brushes, and made some drafts. Some in watercolor, and some in acrylic. At the end, I think I prefer the ones in acrylic, but your opinions are welcome. I might use them for a fabric design, But I haven't really decided yet.

Timide sun

You know spring is here when the days are getting longer. The sun shines timidly, but the temperature is still low. Mother nature is preparing for it's big show! You can have a taste of what will soon come: an explosion of colors and perfumes. I love this floating time between winter and spring, it is full of promises.
You know I am a visual person. This is why I have decided to share my mood with you in color, and share the work of some of my fellow artists and designers who I feel have perfectly seize the moment.

Interview with Artangel

I am so pleased that my fellow angel, Artangel has accepted to have an interview with me!
I felt in love with her work when I saw her paintings for the first time, one year ago on facebook, where she has her fan page.
Yes, this is one of the positive things I discovered with social networking site, you may encounter great people and great talents :)
She also has a successful shop on Etsy, and a lovely blog.

It is hard to explain( due to my poor vocabulary), but her paintings fills me with serenity.
the luminous colors, the elaborated simplicity in the designs and compositions create artworks that are harmonious, and visually powerful!

The interview:

Me: Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
Artangel: I’m Angie. I live in Manchester, England, with my partner and our son. I work three days a week in Occupational Health, and the rest of the time I devote to my art (and the odd bit of shopping!)

Me: How did you come to painting?
Artangel: I think I was just born with a painting gene! I have always drawn and painted, for as long as I can remember.
Me: Where do you find your inspiration?
Artangel: Nature, colour, texture, and I love working with re-cycled bits and pieces. I'm fascinated by collections, and things that already have a "history"; I love making something new with them.

Me: What are your goals?
Artangel: Just to continue making art and developing my work, and hopefully to be able to carry on sharing it with other people.

Me: Do you believe in your lucky star?
Artangel: To a great extent I believe that we make our own luck; having said that, there have certainly been times when I’ve felt that the hand of fate was guiding me

Me: Do you have periods of doubts?
Artangel: Yes of course! I think everyone does. In a way I don’t mind periods of doubt - they at least prove that I’m still thinking!
Me: Howdo you deal with those periods of doubts?
Artangel: I find the old words of wisdom helpful - make small decisions with your head, but big decisions with your heart. Often it’s about giving myself enough quiet time and space to be able to hear that inner voice which usually knew the answer all along!
Me: What method do you use to find back your energy?
Artangel: Time alone, and surrounding myself with beautiful things, either in nature or in a gallery.

Me: Is it effective?
Artangel:Usually - I think that just being around nature or art helps to restore my soul!
Me: What is your motto in life?
Artangel: This quote from Ashley Smith sums it up - “Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.”

Thank you Angie!

Some inspirational aphorism

Do you remember the day I posted about my friend the squirrel. Do you remember that I was upset with him and how he dug up my plants. Well, I owe him an excuse!!!
He left me a gift in exchange: a link to a great blog full of inspirational words that I have been following until this day.
"Out of Context: Pieces of life" is an aphorism blog wrote by Marty Rubin aka "Nothing Profound".

His writing is like a symphony, and always have the perfect note that resonate in my mind, opening doors for my soul.
These aphorism are really good food for the soul,....not fast food, but the kind of food you take your time to eat and appreciate, and that you remember years after.

I thought that when you discover something great, you can't keep it for yourself! So until the day these aphorism will be compiled in a book that I can easily offer as a gift, I am sharing with you the link to the blog where you can read them.
Below are some of my favorite ones.
What are yours?

Postcards from Gibraltar

My friend Photographer Dana Nedelea has launched her lovely new website!

Since then, she has been busy taking more photographies and working on this website to promote the new postcard collection she has created. As I told her, her work has changed a lot, and I love how full of sun and light it is now.

My favorite series are the "architectural elements", and particularly the "Doors"( I plan to buy some of them for my home), they open my imagination to so many doors do :).
What about yours?
No need to say that this postcard collection will be a great success!!!!

Congratulations Dana!

Pattern design

I am actually busy working on my new fabric collection for my website. In the meantime, I am working on my new surface pattern design collection. I love to design patterns, and for the first year, I will try to license them by myself.
I will upload the designs on Trunkt, and will let you know as soon as the site is ready. This is a new challenge for me, and I love it!
I thought before I release my new collection, I would share some designs from my past work with you. And of course, any advice is welcome!
